HOW HOT ARE WE FOR THIS GAME?
7.4
Hot

WHY HOT?
Steps were taken to create a more convincing life simulation, neighborhood exploration without load screens, interface improvements, enhanced character customization, realistic personalities.

WHY NOT?
Visuals seem to suffer on account of gameplay complexity, seems like a cool game for fans only, why burden the game with stuff players never get to see?

» All About The Sims 3 on ActionTrip

EA is introducing the new Create-A-Sim character builder, featuring customizable 3D polygon models that can be altered in a variety of ways. Players may define the appearance of their avatars by adjusting height, weight, hair and clothing. Also, you can customize your character's muscle tone and a much wider range of faces was promised.

To those who are familiar with the series, most of these improvements should be a welcomed sight. At the same time, players will also be able to do all the things they've done in earlier games - creating and controlling their Sims, designing, building and furnishing their homes. In that respect, the game offers additional customization options, so players can now take any material from any object and drag it over a different object to populate it. This way you can create matching sets of furniture and more.

In the end, to fans, it really won't matter whether this game will actually make a significant contribution to video game evolution or not. They'll just keep on buying it, just as they have before. In other words, taking steps to reel in life-sim fans and casual gamers should be enough for EA. The Sims fan base is huge and the formula definitely proved successful in the past. On the other hand, they didn't really give much thought as to what could be done to attract hardcore gamers. As a result, a majority of these gamers are likely to skip The Sims 3, just as they have before.

They need to make a zombie invasion expansion for the Sims. Maybe then I'd play it.
Stick!: I'd second that. The could call it Sims 2 -- Rotting Limb S...

The Sims is a guilty shameful pleasure. The Sims 3 sounds like it's going to kick ass. The Sims 2 was basically The Sims with fancy graphics. It's nice to see improvements that matter.
Arrep: And in Sims 2 you don't need a special bed to *cough* WooHoo...

I'm not afraid to admit that I put a decent amount of time into the Sims 2, its fun, to me anyways, to put people together in a room and fuck with them. However I always got pissed off at the 6 stupid meters, them always having to take a piss, no one realizing that someone was already fucking cooking dinner and maybe they should just wait, and other movement around the house issues.

However the main thing was that I always would spend so much time with one family, that my other families would be left behind, and i always felt I had to go back and "grind" them up. This was the main reason I quit playing, and if they truely get this working in the Sims 3, I will definitely get it.

The architectural part of the games was the draw for me. Landscaping and building a cool house was a lot more fun the making sure my sim took a shit on time.
gforced [mail] Apr 23 2008, 03:27 am EDT
the game needs a few schizo's, psyco's, megalomaniacs, pimps, whores and drug dealrs and at least 5 racists and a cannibal.
Vader [STAFF] [mail] Apr 23 2008, 04:14 am EDT
Then sounds like GTA... without the cannibals of course.
gforced [mail] Apr 23 2008, 05:12 am EDT
yeah just imagine the fun and mayhem you spend ages getting your Sim and his house all setup and kitted out with alsorts of cool stuff that took you weeks to earn only to have a wild party to wake up and find that your best friend sold your home theatre for drugs, your daughters turning tricks for cash, and your nieghbour is having your wife for dinner (literaly).
It would give the sims some story.
Or they could theme the Sims on day time soapies, What my dead wife is alive ?DUM DUM DUMMMM!!! And shes my sister? DUM DUM DUMMMM who was actually my twin brother? DA DA DA DUMMM

They should have that Photo-Upload feature like they have on Tiger Woods 08, where you can upload a mugshot of yourself and it will generate your face on your character for you. That would be a great touch to this game I think
willybabez [mail] May 19 2008, 11:29 am EDT
i hope the sims creators put in more clothes and hairstyles beacause in previous sims they had so many bad hairstyles and clothes. Also i would love to play a game which combines GTA and The sims.
